Cristiano Ronaldo defends decision to raise son without mother on Jonathan Ross Show

Cristiano Ronaldo has defended his decision to bring up his son without a mother – despite admitting his own mum Dolores is the most important person in his life.
Speaking for the first time on a British chat show, the Portuguese football legend toldJonathan Ross that he would eventually tell Cristiano Jnr who his biological mother is.
But he insisted that the five-year-old did not need to learn her identity for at least another five years – and he will never tell the rest of the world who she is.
During his appearance on the Jonathan Ross show to promote his new documentary titled Ronaldo, the Real Madrid striker is asked: “The thing that occurred to me while watching the film is your mother is so central and important to your life but he [Cristiano Jnr] does not have that relationship with his mother. Surely that must concern you?”

But the Real Madrid ace, 30, insisted: “For me it is not a problem. In the world, many kids don’t have mum, don’t have dads or dads die or mums die.
Cristiano has a dad, an unbelievable dad, a grandmother - I have the support of my family, great of course.
“When Cristiano is going to grow up, I am always going to say the truth to him because he deserves, because he is my son but I am not going to say because people want me to say.”

He said that he felt sure his son would understand why his mother is not in his life. “He is going to understand his daddy, 100% he is going to understand me. I’m going to say the time when I feel that is the right time. I don’t know 10, 11, 12? I don’t know let’s see.”
